Just completed some work with BlueJeans, a cloud based video conferencing service. Thanks to Bo Campbell for being my right hand man on the shoot!
Shot this video recently for BAYS, a great non profit that provides opportunities and increases access for low income youth to participate in organized sports in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. If your looking to give back to your community BAYS is a great place to start: www.sfbays.org
Testing out the $120 Opteka slider at Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley, CA. Shot on the Canon 7D with 50mm 1.8, 28-300mm 3.5- 6.5, Opteka 6.5mm fisheye. Song is Mimicking Birds, The Loop.
Just completed a video for one of ART.COM’s affiliate sites. The shoot went really well considering it was all done in one day. Check out their product as well as the video at http://www.allposters.com/myphotos
I went to the Berkeley Marina a few weekends ago to test out a recently purchased lens, a Tamron 18-300mm 3.5-6.3. I bought the lens used at Adolph Gasser in San Francisco for $80. Even new the lens is fairly inexpensive so I didn’t hope for much in terms of quality but the ability to zoom was the real reason for the purchase. After this test though I realized it was a great purchase all around for the quality of the footage inst half bad.
Instead of cakes and fancy dinners, for the last few years I have spent my b-day at a Day of the Dead celebration. Though SF’s Mission district event is epic, the Berkeley event had all the festivities including lines of truck food vendors (all the rage these days). We opted for Cheesboard Pizza instead, stuffed ourselves and then led our 2 person procession home.

I have a huge amount of new footage from the last year. Threw it together for a new H2 Productions demo reel.
Had a “team building” outing at Great America. Shot some pics on my wifes $100 Casio EXSlim 12.1 MP camera. The pic’s look pretty good considering the camera. Plus, I wouldn’t have minded much if the thing went flying out of my hand somewhere along the line (my friend lost his brand new iphone on the Top Gun ride).

I have been wanting a dolly rig for some time and up until a couple years ago the only way to get one was to fork out thousands of dollars or break into Paramount Studios. Recently there has been a big DIY movement, people making everything from steadycams, 35mm lens adapters, matte boxes and of course dolly’s. Now you have to realize that I don’t even own a real hammer so any DIY project that I would consider taking on would have to be very minimal in the “yourself” part. Well I came across a photo of a dolly someone made using only wood, screws, two metal rods and a tripod head. “Now thats something I can actually make”, I though to myself. I headed down to the hardware store grabbed $25 worth of materials and within 30 minutes I made the contraption you see below. I never though in my wildest dreams that wood will actually slide on a polished piece of metal this smoothly! I would give you a laundry list of all the things that are needed and the dimensions to build the dolly but I think from the picture you should be able to figure it out. If you do have any questions just let me know and be sure to share a link to your hidefdog Dolly videos!
