France, Italy, Netherlands and Australia

Though I have been traveling a lot lately, I havent had a legitimate vacation in over 2 years. We finally had the chance to get away and thats exactly what we did. We went to 3 countries and had a blast. Traveled by train, slept in route or in hostels, got bedbug bites, drank Chianti and watched gondolas float by, found the place we want to retire to (Cefalu, Sicily), ate a lot of bad pizza (just because they invented it doesn’t mean they nailed it). Once we returned I had four days at home and then was off again, this time to Australia for work. Im going to sleep now, no more traveling for a while.

Amsterdam and Delft, Netherlands

Spent a few days in the Netherlands for work. Photos and a write up will soon follow.

Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

The wife and I just got back from a work/vacation trip to Dominican Republic.  DR has some really interesting history, off the wall food choices, beautiful beaches and unfortunately, real poverty. Places that lack an overabundance of money  seem to hold on tighter to their local culture and have a very pleasant community vibe. Coming from the most spoiled place on earth, it was strangely a refreshing yet sobering experience. Heres some images of the traipse:

Sharp Park: HiDefDog Dolly Test 2

Spent a few hours at a small lake in Pacifica over the extended Presidents Day weekend to shoot another test with my $25 DIY dolly.

Shot on the Canon 7d with a Canon 50mm 1.8, Canon 18-55mm and a Opteka 6.5mm fisheye. Edit on Final Cut 6.

THE PIER

Its been raining non stop here in Pacifica so when the rain subsided for a few hours I went down to the pier with the 7D to capture some of the sights.

Shot with the Canon 7D DSLR at 1280×720 60p, conformed to 24FPS with Cinema Tools. Edit with FCP 6.

THE WHARF

This is a short video I shot for Philip Blooms “Bloom Challenge 3″. The challenge was to make a short film that epitomizes where you live or captures the flavor of it. I grabbed a few buddies of mine and headed down to Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. This tourist neighborhood is actually not the epitome of San Francisco at all, yet fun to shoot nonetheless!

Lost and Found

I pulled some photos off a memory card that had been on the bottom of my camera bag since new years eve 2009. Even though I remember that day like it was yesterday, its great to look back on it and see the details frozen in time. There’s also some pictures from this past weekend of the wife and I enjoying every ounce of SF’s lingering indian summer…

Frankfurt Video

Frankfurt, Germany

Last week I shot another conference for work, this time in Germany. Now Frankfurt is not on the top of my list for places I would choose to go in Europe but nonetheless it turned out to be a beautiful city with friendly people and obviously some history. Like most of my work trips I had one day and one night to myself to see the town. The photos below are from my traipse around Frankfurt and also from a party I was invited to that was in a WWII bunker turned recording studio. There’s plenty of stories to be told but they will have to wait. Maybe over a pint? Back to work for me…
